Barrel Full Of Monkeys

Mrs. Theda Nuismer, age, 84, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 10, 2013. She was born January 28, 1928 to Gerrit and Apolonia (Kuite) Verhoeven and was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven. She married Herman Nuismer on February 15, 1946 and shared a life of love, happiness and memories. Theda was a long time member of First Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the choir for many years. She also greatly enjoyed camping, trips to Florida and their afternoon car ride around town. Theda belonged to the TOPS group and enjoyed the many friendships she made. She worked many years at Grand Haven Home Bakery and retired from the Grand Haven Public Schools where she worked in food service. After retirement she volunteered for several years at North Ottawa Community Hospital and was an avid Tiger’s fan. Theda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who thoroughly enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Herman; daughter, Carol (Rick) Barnhill of Grand Haven; sons, Gary (Dianne) Nuismer of Grand Haven and Ronald (Denise) Nuismer of Portage, MI; six grandchildren, Rachelle Purosky, Cari Houston, Deanna Arnould, Shaun, Lindsay and Amy Nuismer and 7 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister- in- law Henrietta Verhoeven of Grand Haven. Many extended family members including Niece (Russ) Marcusse, Lucille (Ray) Spangler, Isabel Jones, Carl Fredericks , Jelmer (Isabel) Nuismer and many nieces and nephews. Theda was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Schroeder and Minnie Wernstrom and two brothers, Jacob Verhoeven and Marinus Verhoeven. The funeral service for Theda will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Rich Hamstra officiating. Interment will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. What I remember: Camping camping and more camping....Silver Lake, Pentwater, and PJ Hoffmaster. Barrel Full of Monkeys from Deer Park Funland, cook and serve pudding in the little dishes, cookies under the bed, windmill cookies on Friday nights, eeny Iney over, Coffee in the funny coffee pot, UNO, Christmas Eve, Fathers days at Grand Haven State Park, Thursday night visits, visiting grandma for pizza's at the high school, Russ's, goulash, pistocio cake, charcoal grill, there are a billion memories...but like the pastor said...Grandma was HOME!!! her house was HOME!!!! and I always knew she loved me and never judged me. Grandma was about family...about us! ALWAYS
