Flooded Basement!
Where do I begin? Hope you can follow:
Tyler had a couple friends over today (Jared and Carter). I decided to take them to McDonalds for lunch, but before we left (11:30) I went downstairs and started a load of laundry. We went to McDonalds and then back home. Sam went down for a nap and the boys were playing outside in the sprinkler so, I went down to switch loads (1:00). I stood at the top of the stairs and looked down to see shiny dark carpet???? The closer I got the more it looked like water. When I finally stepped on the carpet I realized the ENTIRE basement was under atleast an inch or two of water! I ran to the laundry room to see the washer over flowing and water everywhere. The sensor never told the washer that it was full and for almost two hours it filled and filled and filled!
I did not freak out...amazing as that is! I ran upstairs woke Dan and we then figured out what to do. Thank goodness Dan new to call servpro (the best ever). I figured we were going to have to start with our shopvac. We called the insurance company and they started the claim. Servpro came out and did an estimate of $6-8,000(thats just the start) and then had three vans here in the hour. They had three ladys sucking up water, cleaning up the laundy, boxes and everything else that is on the unfinished side. The two men were wripping off the baseboards, tearing up the carpent and padding, drilling holes in the drywall, moving the furniture, pool table, and TV. My gorgeous basement is a mess.
It doesn't look as though much is ruined. I do worry about the legs on my beautiful couches and Dans speakers but most was just plastic toys which all seem to work. I have to admit I was most worried about the geotrax trains...Tyler would have been devestated! The pool table looks alright and so does the TV. Nothing of sentimental value was ruined...no pictures, no scrapbooks! Mostly, a big mess and a stressful day!
Tearing up the padding
Filling the truck with garabage...wet, heavy, yucky garabage!

This is what the entertainment center before we looked at the damage!
