Saying Goodbye!

Saying hello to summer vacation was bitter sweet for us all. The end of the school year at Michigan Avenue Academy is unlike other schools. Saying good-bye is not easy when you have built such strong relationships with students. This year was especially hard with Tyler and Sam having to say good-bye to Ms. Sandi and to the buhl girls. Saying goodbye to Ms Sandi was tearful for him but heartbreaking for me. I cried an entire workday! There are no words to express the gratitude I have towards her. She is an amazing teacher and did an excellent job with Tyler all year. The transition from part-time to full-time student was nothing but a dream come true for Tyler. He loves school because of this fantastic women.

We had to say good-bye to the Buhl girls for the summer also. This was hard since they had come to my rescue in the middle of the school year and took Sam in. They are a blessing and loved her. When the whole situation went down it was stressful to me because I didn't want my children having broken hearts. But the transition was a snap! She was happy from day one.

The tears started with Ms. Sandi and didn't stop for about 2 weeks. The end of the school year for me is always emotional but this year was even harder. Working in a small school and it being alternative education, we build strong bonds with our students and wishing them well at graduation is a tear jerker for me. Saying good bye as they walk out the door the last day of school stresses me, I hope them well, that they stay safe, in hopes I will see them in the fall. However, I new that wasn't going to be the case this year. I wouldn't see these kids in the fall so there were more teaers than ussual. Unfortunately, the students weren't the hardest part of the good-byes. It was saying it to the staff and school knowing my time teaching at MAA has come to an end. The staff that has grown into some of my closest and dearest friends I will not be teaching with anymore. The greatest team is splitting apart. Most of us trying for new jobs and me finding one. We as a staff have become close through our struggles. We have grown through our weaknesses come out stronger and better people both professionally and personally because of them. These are the people that have had my back when things were tough and celebrated with me in all my accomplishments. I thank them...I thank my students...and I thank all the moms I have taught, all of you have made me a better person, teacher, mother and friend. I have grown in so many ways because of all my experiences and relationships in that building for the past 5 years. I can't imagine a better team-I love you all!

Birthday Girl

Happy Birthday Sammi DD Bear!

We had the family over for hot dogs and cupcakes. We had princess everything! Sam was so happy to open her presents, make-up, make-up, make-up! We planned to have it at the camper and once again the weather didn't cooperate so we headed back to the house. Luckily Grandma and Grandpa Dingy were around to help us make the switch! The weather held out but we did all have to squeeze into the house. It was a great afternoon!
